Interesting turn of phrase

The America's Cup website has the release announcing that the South African team has officially challenged and finishes with the sentence:

Shosholoza joins the Challenger of Record, Desafío Español and the Defender Alinghi, as the first confirmed participants in the 33rd America’s Cup.

Interesting. In the old days it was always that the Defender and ultimate winning Challenger that were confirmed participants in the America's Cup. Continuing evidence perhaps that the whole format is in for a continued shake up.
