It's really time to move back to the South Pacific...

It's been months, I know...many of you keep reminding me. And the longer time passes, the harder it seems to know where to begin to fill in the gaps, to capture some of the moments of joy, laughter, and thankfully hardly any sadness, of the past 8 or so months - and then I remembered, it's never too late, or too hard to begin a conversation with friends. So here goes....back to The Blog...

And let's start again with weather - it's day 2 of snow in Milwaukee..and I had to share this rather delightful email I just received from our IT department....it really maybe time to move back to a warm spot in the South Pacific....

Hello Everyone- Winter is upon us. With that being said, we ask that you do not leave your laptop in your car overnight or even only for a few hours. Extreme cold can cause damage to your LCD screen, hard drive and the plastic components in and on your laptop. Also, booting up a cold laptop can cause condensation on the inside of the device. If your laptop has been exposed to the cold, please allow it to warm up to room temperature before you boot it up. This warm up process can take up to 1 hour or more depending on the temperature outside. Thank you, The Network Admin and Helpdesk Teams

Shedding season has begun

One pass of Mile's neck (yes, this pile is just from his neck) at the weekend...brothers/cousins - any thought of the skein value of this "wool"...?

Perhaps Paula could do a Simply Miles line from Malamute - not Merino...?

Sheila Makes the Ellen Show

So my sister Sheila made national television in the US yesterday with a (brief) appearance on the Ellen Show...

Three Christchurch kids from New Zealand had made it their mission to try and meet Ellen Degeneres - and had started a campaign on Twitter - she picked it up, called them and together with Air New Zealand (who Sheila works for) paid for them to come to LA. They thought they were visiting her studio - watch the rest:

(Sheila is the one at the airport with the bob and wearing the suit - as they arrive at LAX!)

Easter in New Zealand seemed festive this year

A work colleague sent me this link reminding me of the annual New Zealand Easter bunny hunt - forget about the annual American traditional of the Easter egg hunt - this looks like much more fun!

And environmentally friendly too lets not forget....

As seen in the local supermarket...

The humble Sunday roast leg of lamb -the cheapest cut of meat to be
found on the family farm at "Grasslea" when I was growing up - was on
sale at our local supermarket tonight for $4.99 per pound...an
astonishing US$64. We don't eat lamb much.

Neither, probably, does Bernie Madoff...
