Dr Ruth and Lemon Mousse with Fennel Shavings, Citrus and Dried Salty Olive

What on earth do they have in common....?

Me, today, June 13th.

In Chicago today for meetings at Upshot HQ and training day tomorrow so decided to stay overnight. After drinks tonight I wandered to my hotel room, overlooking the Chicago River and got into the lift with Dr Ruth...

(Boy, was I tempted...but, you know, a ten floor lift trip just isn't enough time....)

So then it was off to Blackbird, one of my favourite dining experiences for dinner en seule at the bar - delicious slow roasted farm raised baby lamb with fried morels, favas, herbed ricotta, spring radishes and wild flower honey - then the celebrated meyer lemon mousse with white chocolate, fennel shavings, citrus and dried kalamata olive garnish.

A nice touch at Blackbird tonight - a small metal hook that allows a lady to hang her bag off the edge of the table...

Then an uplifting walk back to the hotel... it was such a beautiful night, 25C, and the city glistening as usual.

The CBOT, Chicago Board of Trade rises in the distance along La Salle Street.

Even the street seats are architecturally stylish in this town.
