Undie 500 roadies streaking naked through roadworks in Mid-Canterbury may have caused a six-car pile-up among rubber-necking motorists yesterday

Police Southern Communications supervisor Hemi Waretini said they had received many calls yesterday as hundreds of Canterbury University students embarked on the world-famous road trip to Dunedin. "Because they are not sticking together, and they are stopping at various locations and getting out to relieve themselves, we've mainly had calls relating to individuals, but it's been nothing major."

In an accident in Chertsey, near Ashburton, at 4.30pm, six cars had tail-gated after Undie 500 students were seen running naked through roadworks. No-one was injured.....read on for more
